How To Fix Your Network Adapter For Backtrack or kali LinuxHow To Fix Your Network Adapter For Backtrack or kali Linux :-

Most of the time we install Backtrack or Kali Linux on the Virtual environment to test the operating system. but when it,s comes to the wireless. it,s not showing wireless adapter. it,s showing only eth0 and lo. it,s not showing wlan interface.

Today i am going to show you How To Fix Your Network Adapter For Backtrack or kali Linux ?

First you need a Alfa network adapter

and make sure your network adapter is installed properly. open network adapter properties (Run > ncpa.cpl) . it,s look like below image.

Now open your Virtual Box settings and Go to network setting > in the Attached to select the Bridge Adapter , select your Alfa network and in Promiscous mode as Allow All .

now open your Backtrack or Kali Linux. Go the Device menu > Select USB devices and select your Alfa adapter here.

now you are able to access your wireless network adapter in virtual box. Now open your terminal and type ifconfig. here your wlan0 interface will shown here.

Your work done. now when you open the network adapter settings. your Alfa wireless network adapter ( run > ncpa.cpl)  will not shown there beacuse now it,s connected with virtual box.

Enjoy your Airmon-ng and other wireless penteration testing on virtual box. Same concept will apply for Vmware player or Vmware workstation.

  2. Hi,
I’m having trouble with Kali in virtualbox.

I have installed Kali properly on virtualbox 4.2.18, assigned 20GB disk space and 2000mb of ram. I installed the extensionpack for the usb-drivers and enabled the device filter.
I set up guest additions for root username and set the network interfaces to bridged/allow all/cable connected.
Next, is used my linksys-cisco WUSB54G wireless adapter, plugged it in, booted up kali, and selected it in devices/usb devices. No wlan0 or wlan1 shows up on the ifconfig command. Only eth1-eth2-eth3 showed up.
Next I installed the ralink RT2500 drivers and still only the eth1-eth2-eth3 showed up.
how to get one of them activated in wlan0-mode?
