How to Use a Laptop as a Wireless Repeater ?
Almost all homes and office today are connected to the Internet either via a cable operator, telephone line or USB dongle. To share our internet connection we are using the Wireless Router but most of the time we are not getting the good wireless signal far from the wireless router. In this situation we are using the Wireless repeater to increase the wireless signal, on that condition we have good solution to use the Wireless repeater to increase the Wi-Fi signal. Wireless Repeater is always going a costly solution for your budget.
Today I am going to show you how to use your Laptop as a Wireless Repeater.
- A laptop or PC with Windows XP SP2 or higher system
- A Wireless USB Adapter
- Any of the following software : Connectify, MyPublicWIFI or MaryFi.
- An internet connection
In this mode, one wireless interface works as a client to receive the Internet connection from a wireless router and the other interface relays the same Internet connection to other devices. Laptops usually have a single wireless network interface, and to make a repeater, you will need to install a wireless USB adapter. PCs will have to use two of the USB adapters
Download Connectify (Limited free version) and install it. Restart the pc and open the software
Step 1 :- Click the Setting tab
Step2 :- Enter the SSID name or Hotspot name for your network.
Step 3 :- select the first wireless network interface in the “Internet to share” drop down list and the second network interface in the “ Share over “ drop-down list.
You can also convert a wireless router into a repeater by installing third-party firmware such as DD-WRT & Tomato .
