How to Quickly Set Up Port Forwarding on a Router ?

What is Port Forwarding ?

Port forwarding is a method of making a computer on your network accessible to computers on the Internet, even though you are behind a router.

It is commonly used for hosting game servers, peer to peer downloading, and voice over IP type applications. There are many other reasons you may need to forward a port, this is not an exhaustive list.

As i described in my above picture, If any external request comes from the outside from your network and wants to access Windows remote desktop services, then you need to be define on the Router which Port is mapped with which internal network IP-address.

Today i am going to show you How to Quickly Set Up Port Forwarding on a Router ?

Download and install UPnP Port mapper tool.

The UPnP PortMapper is an easy to use program that manages the port mappings (port forwarding) of a UPnP enabled internet gateway device (router) in the local network. You can easily view, add and remove port mappings.

Using port forwarding, it is possible to access servers (SSH, Web, Game servers,CCTV …) running in a private network from the internet. Port mappings can be configured using the web administration interface of a router, but using the UPnP PortMapper is much more convenient: Just create a new preset or select an existing preset and click one button to add a port mapping for your current computer, the IP address is retrieved automatically!

Now open your Port mapper tool and click on the Connect to connect to the Router
