If you suspect your ISP isn’t delivering the speed or quality of service you should be getting, you can run a set of tests at the M-Lab ( www.measurmentlab.net) and identify any areas of concern. There are test to measure the speed of your connection, to see if your ISP throttles certain types of internet traffic, and for measuring the performance of mobile networks. All the site’s tools are free to use and could help you uncover hidden problems with your broadband.

OK, now lets start, Open www.measurmentlab.net . Now Click on the Tests option , now you have the option to test performance , performance Mobile , Transparency and State.

now in  the Performance option, select the NDT ( Network Diagnostic Test ) option.

Now Allow Java ( Run this time ) and click on the Start Test to start your test.

Now it will start your test for your upload and download.

After some test , it will give you final result about your speed including Network Latency and Jitter information.

M- Lab comes with a another awesome tool called as Glasnost. Glasnost attempts to detect whether your Internet access provider is performing application-specific traffic shaping. You can test if your ISP is throttling or blocking email, HTTP, SSH, Flash video, and P2P apps including BitTorrent, eMule and Gnutella.

Go to the Transparency option and select the Glasnost option and click on the Run test option to start your test.

Now select your Application, that you want to test and click on the Start Testing option to start your test. like in my case i want to test Bit-torrent traffic.

it will take some time time to test your traffic .

Now finally you have your test result. Like in my case My Bit-torrent traffic is not controlled by my ISP.

But if your torrent traffic is shaped by your ISP then in this condition, you can easily bypass your traffic shapping  by encrypting your torrent traffic.

Go to the Option menu and Select the Preferences menu and enable the Protocol Encryption option.
