On Windows I am using Wnetwatcher as a Network scanner to find out the connected device in your local network.
Today i am going to show you How easily with backtrack you can scan your local network and find-out the connected device in your local network with open shares and other important information
Backtrack5R3 comes with the Autoscan tool for this purpose.
Open Autoscan tool with Application > backtrack > information gathering > network Scanners
Select AutoScan > Select local network for scanning > Select your network interfaces and click on the forward.
it will scan your all connected devices in your network with Open network Shares.
